Common Questions About Hilliard Ohio Soccer Association

What is the Hilliard Ohio Soccer Association (aka HOSA)?

We are a non-profit organization with a mission to serve the community and surrounding areas the opportunity to play various levels of soccer.  We currently have eight different programs.  Please go to the Programs tab to read more about each program.


Do I have to live in Hilliard to participate in one of HOSA’s programs?

No you do not.  Anyone living in Hilliard or any of the surrounding areas can participate in all the HOSA programs.


What programs do HOSA offer?

We offer Recreation - HRSL (U5-U12 age groups) ,  Jr. Academy (U6-U7 age groups, emphasis on skills), MSSA (U13-U14 age groups, middle school – semi-competitive for spring only), HSSA (High School, co-ed) spring only, U8 Academy (U8 age group, competitive but no tryouts), HFC Select (middle tier program), Hilliard FC (U9-U19 age groups requires a tryout, competitive, travel soccer), TOPSoccer (U5-U19 age groups for special needs players). What does the “U” mean when you are talking about age groups?

The “U” means under.  Example: U5 means Under 5.


How many seasons do you offer and when are sign-ups?

For all the programs we have a Fall and Spring season. Sign-ups for all the programs except for U8 Academy, HFC Select, and Hilliard FC are in January for the Spring season and in June for the Fall season.  The U8 academy, HFC Select,  and Hilliard FC have sign-ups in May/June for the tryouts and/or meeting.  The MSSA and HSSA programs are a Spring only program with registrations in January.


How can I register?

Online registration is our only method of registering. If you are registering for the first time with us you will create a new account.  If you have already registered in the past then you log into your account.  You can request you username or password when logging in if you have forgotten them. If you do not have a computer of your own then go to the library or a friends house to register.


How do I pay?

You can pay by credit card when registering or send a check to HOSA P.O. Box 1 Hilliard, OH 43026.


Are there refunds of any sort given?

There are NO refunds given for ANY reason except if we cannot place a child on a team.  We DO NOT give refunds for injuries, religious reasons, conflicts, carpooling issues, etc.


Do you grant requests for placement on a team or with another player?

NO we do not take request of any sort except for a sibling.


If I volunteer to coach in one of the parent coached programs will my child be on my team?

Yes.


How do I volunteer?

You can volunteer when registering your child for a program. The registration format will prompt you.  Or you can go back online to your account to the Volunteer Information section and click on the Sign-Up/Edit Volunteer Role button.


What night are practices?

Practices are determined by the coaches of the teams with the exception of Jr. Academy  which is always Fridays/Sundays,  and TOPS  which is always Saturdays. Recreation has one practice a week (Monday through Friday) and MSSA, HSSA, U8 Academy, HFC Select, and Hilliard FC are determined by the coaches and can have several practices a week.


What about uniforms/equipment needed?

Each program has their own uniform unique to the program.  Please go to the Programs tab to read more about each program and about the uniform.  Each program requires a soccer ball, shin guards, soccer socks, cleats or tennis shoes (cleats are required for the higher level soccer programs), and a water bottle.

What is the youngest age you take?

The Recreation (HRSL) program takes the youngest age at 3 1/2. The cut-off is a February 28th birth date (3 ½ years) - this is for both fall and spring season.


How do I know if a practice or training session is canceled?

You can check on the Home page of the web site to see if the field is open.  Also, your coach will contact you if the practice /training is canceled. 


What if I lose something at one of the fields?

The Hilliard soccer complex has a lost and found bin located against the white shed.  Please check there first.  You can email hosasoccer@yahoo.com to share about the lost item in case someone has emailed us about finding it.


May I attend a HOSA Board meeting?

Yes you can.  The board meeting information is on our web site under the About Us tab.


How can I contact someone from HOSA?

Our phone number, email address and postal address is on the web site under the About Us tab.  You can email hosasoccer@yahoo.com or call 614 529-8542.  Office hours are Monday through Friday 9-5:00 p.m.  Phone calls are either answered immediately or will be returned within approximately 48 hour period and emails are answered within approximately 48 hour period. Phone calls and emails on the weekends will be answered by Tuesday following the weekend.
