Overview of All HOSA Programs
Overview
HOSA currently administers two soccer seasons per year: Fall and Spring.  The soccer year runs from August 1st through June.  The Fall season typically runs from late August or early September through October.  The Spring season typically runs late March or early April through May or early June.  Approximately twenty-five percent of the players participate in winter leagues at indoor facilities on their own.  Registration for the Fall season is in June, while the Spring season registration is in January (this is true for all programs except Hilliard FC).  Hilliard FC registration for tryouts are during the month of May.

HOSA fields teams in the Hilliard FC program including the Hilliard FC Club, HFC Select (middle-tier), U8 Academy, U6/U7 Jr. Academy.  We also have our recreational programs including Hilliard Recreational Soccer League (HRSL), Middle School Soccer Association (MSSA), High School Soccer Association (HSSA)and The Outreach Program for Soccer program  (TOPS). Please view each of them under the  Program tabs to get a more detailed look at each of HOSA's programs or click on the program name below and it will take you to that programs page.

Hilliard Recreational Soccer League - HRSL Program

Recreational soccer is a great place to start a child that has never played soccer before. It is also a wonderful program to have a child in that wants to play soccer for the fun of it without the competitive side to it. HRSL registers players twice each year, typically in January and June. Recreational players range in age from 4 to 12 years of age and can register to play HRSL with the exception of players entering middle school (7th/8th grade).  Those players are encouraged to play their middle school soccer for Fall and then play MSSA program with us in the Spring. Any person that registers online and meets the age criteria is accepted regardless of where they live - as long as there is room on a team. Recreational teams are formed each Fall through random assignment of registered players. Players remain with their Recreational team through the Fall and Spring seasons. Should players drop off teams for the Spring season, they are replaced by new registrants. If more players register for the Spring season then there are openings, new teams are formed for the Spring season only. HRSL makes every attempt to place players on a team. Unfortunately, we typically have 12 to 25 players per season that we are unable to place on teams because the teams are full and there are not enough age specific players to form a new team. We do not take requests to be on a certain team or to be with a certain coach or player.

Parents of players on a team volunteer to coach the teams. Teams are organized into leagues by age group and gender. The Pre-K league is for U5 players. U-6, U-7, U-8, U9 and U10-12 leagues are formed with teams whose players are younger than the upper age on August 1st. For example, if a player is 7 years old on August 1st, they play in an under eight years old (U-8) league.

The fall and spring season consists of seven games played on Saturday or Sunday for one hour between teams registered with HRSL. Teams practice once per week for one hour starting two-three weeks before the first game of the season. A professional third party photographer takes team and individual pictures each season. HRSL receives a portion of the revenue generated from those families that voluntarily purchase the pictures. U5 teams will only practice once before the season and then have practice/games on Saturday or Sundays after 12:30.  The practice is the first half-hour and the game is the second half-hour.  An uniform top is required at an extra cost.

Junior Academy Program

The Jr. Academy is for any player that is a U6 through U7 that is looking for more specific training by professional coaches. This is the next step for the soccer player wanting to play at the highest level at this age. The curriculum is based around approved exercises for the pre-select player that wants to be more technically efficient.

The season will run the same as the Recreation program. Players will meet twice a week for 7 weeks. There will be a skills night on Friday evenings lasting a little over an hour. The players will meet again on Sunday for Sunday Fun Day games. They will play in a 4v4 format with emphasis on having fun and being creative. Jr. Academy is run under the Hilliard FC program.

All aspects of the Jr. Academy are based around the development of basic soccer skills through creative, challenging, and FUN training session. All sessions will have a realistic goals set forth by the staff and will be enhanced by a positive environment where each child will feel free to be themselves to develop their self esteem and confidence on and off the field.

U8 Academy Program
Players are maintained in training groups and play non-results-oriented competition against other club academies participating in MOSSL. There are no tryouts; instead all players committed to the goal of development will be accepted. The Hilliard FC U8 Academy is designed as a training ground and to create an environment where individual player development is paramount. The team trains twice a week with 1 to 2 games per week.

HFC Select- Middle Tier Soccer
New Program for the Fall/Spring 2011/12 season - a two season commitment.  HFC Select is an extension of the Hilliard FC program but competes at a middle-tier level .     Players attend the same tryout/evaluation as the Hilliard FC players.   Players wishing not to be considered for the Hilliard FC program may request to stay in the HFC Select program at tryouts.    Teams will be formed via a draft conducted by the parent coaches, as determined by the Hilliard FC Directors, of the available players.   The draft will take place within one week of the Hilliard FC team formation for the same gender/age group of the players not placed on a Hilliard FC team.   Teams will compete in the Mid Ohio Select Soccer League (MOSSL).

Hilliard FC (HFC) Club Program
The most competitive program is the Hilliard FC Club. Evaluators determine the best players (age groups U9 - U19) available based upon their performance at two successive nightly tryouts held specifically for each age group. HFC  teams are formed by contacting the best player and inviting them to play on a team, then contacting the next best player and so on until a complete team is formed. Should a sufficient number of players try out more than one team is formed in each age group. Selected players are expected to play for the team for one year (Fall and Spring season) and then must tryout and make the team again the next year. The teams play in the Mid Ohio Select Soccer League (MOSSL) against other teams in Central Ohio. During the year, the team will play a Fall and Spring season, attend training camps, participate in tournaments locally and also requiring travel and may participate in Winter leagues at indoor facilities. Professional Trainers coach HFC Club teams.

TOPSoccer Program
Any child aged 4 to 19 with mental, physical or learning disabilities from the Central Ohio area may play in the TOPS program at Hilliard or Westerville. Teams are formed from the players that attend each Saturday morning one-hour session during the Fall and Spring season. Volunteers, typically community residents or players from the Hilliard/Westerville high schools Boys and Girls soccer teams, act as coaches, referees and assistants each week.
