Recreational soccer allows all interested boys and girls to play the game regardless of ability. For many, the HOSA Recreation Program offers the perfect balance between cost and commitment, providing years of enjoyment. This program also serves as an entry point for players who find that they have a passion for the game of soccer and eventually transition to the LFC Competitive program. Players register twice per year (typically January & June). Recreational soccer is a great place to start for any child interested in playing the game. For many, it's also the first step in what becomes a lifelong connection with the sport.
Any person who registers online and meets the age criteria is accepted regardless of residency. HOSA Recreation teams are randomly formed before the fall season and generally remain intact through the spring. Teams are organized into leagues by age group and gender, with some adjustments made between seasons to accommodate players not returning and newly registered participants. New teams may be formed in the spring if necessary due to additional registrations. HOSA does not accept requests for specific teams or coaches unless there is a documented need, such as siblings.
HOSA Rec teams are coached by parent volunteers who are provided free coaching training and access to multiple coaching resources. Teams generally practice once a week for 60-90 minutes beginning roughly 3 weeks before the first game.
